Communications Chat with Cedrell

A Q&A with our Associate Account Manager, Cedrell Mitchell!

We’re thrilled to introduce our newest Associate Account Manager and Florida beach enthusiast, Cedrell Mitchell. Cedrell brings an array of experience to our team and finds joy in tackling big problems for her clients.

We asked Cedrell nine questions to help you get to know her better.

Q: What brings you joy at work? What inspires you?

A: Solving problems in various industries brings me joy at work. Each client brings a unique challenge, which allows me to dive deeper into their industry. Every day is different here at Slide Nine. One day we’re creating a PR plan and the next day we could be on a farm prepping a client for media training. No matter the uniqueness of our client, it brings me joy to find commonality in the communications technique.

Q: What drew you to the communications field?

A: Believe it or not, I once considered becoming a reporter. Throughout my adolescent years, I joined organizations that allowed me to utilize my voice (not singing though, probably wouldn’t have gone far). When it was time to reconsider my college major, I quickly realized being the voice behind the scenes is just as impactful as being in front of the camera. At that moment, I knew I wanted to pursue communications as a career.

Q: How do you approach creating a memorable client experience?

A: Similar to someone’s first date, first impressions are everything! I feel the same way with my clients. In order to build a memorable experience, a strong foundation of trust and realistic expectations must be established. Clients highly enjoy it when we take initiative for additional wins such as media placements or creative materials. Exceeding my client's goals while maintaining a healthy relationship creates a memorable client experience.

Q: You’ve had some fascinating experiences before joining Slide Nine, including being the lead publicist for one of the largest festivals surrounding the Super Bowl. What was that experience like?

A: One word, EPIC! It had been 10 years since Miami, FL hosted the Super Bowl and it was one of the last major festivals before COVID-19 hit. Let’s just say sneakers were my best friend during the SuperFest. Although I applied my crisis management skills and attended late night emergency meetings, the outcome was all worth it. The music festival included local vendors, county fair rides, food trucks and popular artists such as Dani Leigh and Cardi B. It was a pleasure running the media tent and giving back to my hometown.

Q: What trends are you keeping an eye on as we head into 2023?

A:  The power of TikTok's search engine. Recently, TikTok surpassed Google’s search engine, which is a testament to the platform’s success. I’ll be sure to have this front of mind entering 2023.

Q: You currently live in Florida. What does your perfect Florida day look like?

A:  Toes in the sand, fruity concoction in my hand, whilst the sun dances on my skin. Now that's Florida living!

Q: What’s the biggest win or most exciting work you’ve done for a client?

A: I have enjoyed ideating, creating and successfully launching a billboard campaign for our client, Woeber Mustard Company. Our creative team did a phenomenal job with delivering client needs and understanding important messaging. It’s always nice to visually see our work come to life.

Q: What tools/websites do you use to keep up with the latest trends and news?

A: Bloomberg.com, Quillbot.com, Tinywow.com and Canva.com.

Q: What are some of your favorite industry-related accounts that you follow?

A: On Instagram: @Thechrisdo & @Prgirlmanifesto. Podcast: The PR Week.
