Q: What drew you to the communications field?
A: I have always loved learning new things and sharing my discoveries with others. When it comes to communications, I feel I can do both of these things. It truly gives me a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Q: What brings you joy at work? What inspires you?
A: Successfully completing large projects or tasks with the team.
Q: How do you approach creating a memorable client experience?
A: This is my first time with an agency, however in the past, when interacting with a client or source for stories, I think it’s important to be yourself and truly make a connection on a deeper level. While being knowledgeable is always important, it’s also good for a client to know they can trust you both personally and professionally.
Q: You’ve had some fascinating experiences before joining Slide Nine, including traveling the world as a flight attendant. What was that experience like?
A: Being a flight attendant was one of the best experiences of my life. It gave me the opportunity to see so many different parts of the world, while also meeting people from various backgrounds and cultures. I grew up in a very small town in southern Ohio, so these experiences are invaluable to me. Everyone always wants to hear my “crazy flight attendant stories,” but I must say the good truly outweighs the bad. So I’d be game to speak about those experiences any day.
Q: What trends are you keeping an eye on as we head into 2023?
A: Obviously the talk of the town right now is Twitter. Will it continue to shine as a main social media platform under its new management or will it crumble under the pressure? I’ve used Twitter since 2009 and it has truly become a huge resource for companies and the general public to share information. If it goes down, I’m interested to see if there is a replacement. I am personally keeping an eye on Hive Social to see if it emerges as a true competitor in the coming months.
Q: What’s the biggest win or most exciting work you’ve done throughout your career?
A: I worked for a TV news station for three years. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to cover various topics and stories. One of my favorites was a series called ‘Dealing with Diabetes’. I was able to follow a young girl in Eastern Kentucky as she was one of the first people to get an insulin pump that was labeled as the “artificial pancreas”. It was a rewarding story to follow and I still keep in contact with the family to this day!
Q: What tools/websites do you use to keep up with the latest trends and news?
A: Just like a majority of millennials, I am definitely on social media platforms throughout the day to see what’s going on around the world. As a former journalist, I also find myself looking at various news outlets each day to catch up on the latest happenings.
Q: What are some of your favorite industry-related accounts that you follow?
A: I’m not sure I have a “favorite” account. But I do like following a lot of different media outlets to see what’s going on in the community and how others are utilizing social media.
